Precision Livestock Farming, in Cremona we talk about it

Precision Livestock Farming is more than a good practice, since it has positive effects on animal welfare, farm management and farm profitability. There are many fields of application to explore. Cremona International Livestock Exhibitions explore every year the most topical andinnovative themes of the sector and awake the interest of the whole international community of sector professionals thanks to the cooperation with some of the most important actors of the research & development panorama.

Workshop | Milking Systems: the information potential of digital technologies
Herd management through innovative technologies allows the collection of precious data that are increasingly used by breeders, vets and nutritionists for an integrated and optimal view of the management plan. The workshop will present technical reports on milking systems, associated technological solutions and case histories.

Workshop | Which casein? A choice for farmers

Genetics, health and nutrition play a key role in defining the expected type of milk and the end consumer once the product has been delivered. An informed and aware decision by the farmer therefore takes on a key role for farm profitability.

Qualitative and quantitative variations in casein have a major influence on the digestibility of the milk and the industrial performance of the cheese-making process. This workshop, in addition to an introduction to the characteristics of milk proteins and a summary of their nutritional value, will focus on the two genetic variants (κ-casein B and beta-casein A2) which appear to have the most influence on the technological and nutritional characteristics of the milk.

Workshop | Precision Livestock Farming Systems

Developing management tools to monitor animal wellbeing, health and production in real time is the scope of Precision Livestock Farming (PLF). Interest in PLF is growing in Europe and around the world, as farmers have to take on a completely different scenario compared to the past, both in terms of herd sizes and the role – ever-increasingly entrepreneurial – that they have to assume.

Workshop | Forage Management: The Benefits of New Technologies

This event will offer an in-depth analysis of the various opportunities that technology offers for efficient management of forage, optimising the necessary timeframes for high-quality harvesting also in the relationship between the farmer and contractor. The event will be dedicated to the presentation and discussion of data gathered on monitoring of silage over the course of the demonstration events for the project itself. In addition to the observations on silage, two technical reports will be presented in order to contextualise the microbiological aspects which cause significant temperature variations within the forage itself, and how to monitor these fluctuations in real time
