A delegation of entrepreneurs and institutional representatives from Pakistan has visited CremonaFiere in the framework of the study-tour “SsafeMilk Pakistan Panel” organized by Ozolea and UNIDO ITPO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization – Investment and Technology Promotion Offices). Focus on the improvement of quality standard for food production and food safety in Pakistan dairy market, that is rapidly growing, and on the Italian know-how. The opening of new business opportunities, also through Cremona International Livestock Exhibitions was also a topic.
GROWTH IN PAKISTAN. Pakistan dairy market is really interesting, since the dairy sector has registered a 20-25% growth over the last 5 years and the biggest transformation – supported by the government and by international institutions – still has to take place. Pakistan is the fifth largest milk producing country in the world. Moreover, the whole agricultural sector is looking for a quality leap with modern technologies as to machinery and equipment. MEETING AT CREMONAFIERE. The meeting started with a welcome speech by Monica Prandi, Exhibition Manager of Cremona International Livestock Exhibitions followed by a speech by Ildebrando Bonacini from the Trade Association Livera Associazione Agricoltori Cremonesi who gave an overview on the agro-livestock sector in Cremona. Sebastiano Porretta, head of the Italian Food Technologists Associations (AITA) has then presented the association and the activities carried out in cooperation with CremonaFiere, such as: Qualyfood seminars and projects focusing on food safety and on the dairy sector. The Pakistan delegation showed a great interest and opened a dialogue on the topic. Then Syed Suad Ahmed Pasha, Director Agri Business & Corporate Affairs of the company Engro Foods, took the floor to offer a precise analysis of the dairy market in Pakistan highlighting both potentialities and weaknesses and underlining the importance of international cooperation to develop the sector. Talat Naseer Pasha, deputy rector of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences has presented the university and has given details on the training programs. At the end Francesco Formigoni head of the dairycows and beef cattle technical team of Zoo Assets has presented his company. The business mission ended with a visit to the production site of Latteria Soresina.
